HVA-Factory tip No 1

Take a vernier calliper and measure the distance between the clutch pressure plate and the bottom of the hub - with both parts held firmly together. If this dimension is the same or greater than the measurement of the whole stack of all of your clutch plates - THEY ARE GOING TO SLIP!

THE CORRECT DIMENSION FOR A FULL STACK OF NEW PLATES IS ABOUT 29.5M/M on most 5 spring bikes (82 - 84)

If the stack of plates is new, the chances are that the pressure plate and the clutch hub faces are worn down. As a temporary measure, you may get away with adding 2 plain plates into the stack back-to-back, to take up the distance. Make sure though that the plain plates you add are FLAT. Do not leave them like this as it is a 'Bodge' and is only a temporary solution to keep you racing.....

Andy.
